Differentiating from the other organizations in your cause area is a real challenge for some nonprofits. SALDEF (Sikh American Legal Defense and Education Fund) worked with the BC/DC Ideas team to refine their communications strategy to find a clearer voice and tone. We also helped them identify major communications tools and processes that were impending their success.
Digging in
We held several conversations with internal staff and stakeholders to best understand the challenges and opportunities SALDEF faced. From there we created a strategy for them that focused not only their voice and tone, but also laid out a realistic path for staff to roll out the tactics. Tuneup, Not an OverhaulAnother thing we decided early on is their current visual brand was fun and effective. No need to change that. So we just focused on messaging, audience, and strategy to make it all hang together.
